John Earnshaw at Barrow AFC

John Earnshaw looks in on a Barrow AFC match at Holker Street.

John Earnshaw is 60-years-old and currently lives in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, but lived in Barrow in Furness until 1989. He supports Accrington Stanley as his first team and is a member of the Official Accrington Stanley Supporters Club.

He has recently joined on to the staff as a correspondent, and is currently covering Barrow AFC for Across The Pitch. His hope is to boost the profile of his former home town club as they are currently in position to be promoted, and bring the football league back to Holker Street after an absence of 48 years. The was voted out back in 1972, but if they can hold onto their current position in the National League, they will earn promotion to League Two.

If the team is able to win promotion, John hopes to continue covering and building the profile of The Bluebirds. Although the clubs once had a bit of rivalry in the non-league ranks, the story of the club is similar to that of Accrington Stanley, and is the type of club that Across The Pitch is committed to raising the profile of on both sides of the pond.

In addition to football (or soccer as we say over here) John's other interests are Speedway Racing, walking, photography and cookery (Chinese a speciality).
