Blackpool vs Lincoln City: EFL League One Match Preview
Blackpool F.C. on a Friday night in September is usually associated with ‘The Illuminations’ or sometimes referred to as ‘The Lights’ which is an annual light festival in the town since 1879 and covers a 10km stretch of Promenade using over 1 Million bulbs!
The Lights we are currently interested in though are the floodlights over the Bloomfield Road ground of Blackpool as ‘The Tangerines” host Lincoln City F.C. at 7.45pm Friday Evening.
When asked about promotion contenders at the beginning of the season, two teams who I thought would challenge were Blackpool and Lincoln City and both teams started the season well.
However, following impressive starts, both teams have levelled off somewhat and now nestle in mid-table positions. The most worried of the two supporters will be the followers of Lincoln City, who have not only lost their successful management team of Danny Cowley and his brother Nick, but also lost last week 6-0 at home to Oxford United F.C., with new Manager Michael Appleton watching in the wings. Indecently Appleton had a short stint as Blackpool Boss in 2012.
Undeterred by the drubbing last week, City have already sold over 1,000 tickets and no doubt ‘The Imps’ fans be no doubt be making a weekend event in the party town, which is also hosting the World Fireworks Display Championship over the weekend.
Blackpool vs Lincoln City Prediction
I expect Blackpool to put Lincoln’s lights out with a home win.
